Capital of Life at Almedalen: Three seminars on the future of life science

Join us at Almedalen for three seminars exploring some of the most important issues facing life science today – from advanced therapies and research competitiveness to the implementation of life science strategies.

How can Sweden strengthen its competitiveness in life science? How can advanced therapies reach patients who need them? And how do we turn ambitious strategies into tangible results?

These are among the key questions that will be discussed during Almedalen Week, where partners from the Capital of Life initiative are co-organising three engaging seminars. The discussions will focus on some of the most important future issues for research, innovation and healthcare, while highlighting the role of the Stockholm–Uppsala life science cluster, Capital of Life.

Making academic ATMP therapies available to patients

The seminar "Who takes responsibility for making academic ATMP therapies available when industry steps aside?" will explore how advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) can be developed and made accessible to patients even when commercial incentives are lacking.

Date and time: Wednesday 24 June, 09:00–10:00
Venue: SwedenBIO House, Visborgsgatan 5, Visby

Turning strategies into action

Many regions and countries have ambitious life science strategies, but how can they be translated into concrete action and measurable results? This question will be at the centre of the seminar "How do we become masters of implementing life science strategies?"

Date and time: Thursday 25 June, 09:30–11:00
Venue: Uppsala Municipality Garden, Östra Tullgränd 10, Visby

Together, the three seminars address issues that are crucial for Sweden’s future innovation capacity, patient benefit and international competitiveness. They provide an opportunity to explore how collaboration across sectors can contribute to the continued development of Sweden’s life science ecosystem and the Stockholm–Uppsala region as a leading life science cluster.

We look forward to engaging discussions and new perspectives on how we can strengthen Sweden’s position as a leading life science nation.
