Karolinska Institutet is a world-leading medical university and a key part of the life sciences cluster in the Stockholm-Uppsala region. Through research, education and innovation, KI develops knowledge that contributes to improved prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation in medicine and health, in close collaboration with other stakeholders in the life sciences sector.
KI is represented, through the university’s president, on the government’s advisory group for life sciences and is actively involved in the development of the joint life sciences strategy for the Stockholm and Uppsala region.
Through collaboration with other universities, the healthcare sector, public authorities and companies, KI helps to ensure that research findings are put to practical use through innovations and practical applications that strengthen both healthcare and the development of the life sciences sector in Sweden and internationally.
