Stockholm County Administrative Board

Stockholm County Administrative Board supports the long-term development of life science through regional collaboration, strategic dialogue and sustainable growth initiatives.

Stockholm County Administrative Board has been part of Capital of Life since day one in 2024.

The development of the county’s and the nation’s life science is a top priority for Stockholm County Administrative Board, as it has been over time. The Board has pursued a number of initiatives to promote this sector, which is of vital strategic importance for the county and, indeed, the country.

The fact that life science is one of the most knowledge-intensive sectors, not to mention one that is crucial for society, with a major impact on public health, innovation and economic growth, means that it ties in with many aspects of the County Administrative Board’s remit.

Stockholm and Uppsala account for half of Sweden’s life science sector and play a vital role in driving growth, new jobs and skills development in the county. Important for Stockholm, Sweden and Europe, the sector faces challenges that need to be addressed, which the County Administrative board is tackling. To this end, the County Governor has launched a dialogue on what Stockholm and Sweden need in order to retain their prominent position in life science and how this can be funded.
